Collective Worship

Collective Worship at Pilgrims' Cross CE A Primary School.

Pilgrims’ Cross CE A Primary School ‘s aim is to develop children’s Spirituality...by creating MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS and EXPERIENCES for them to connect with themselves, others, the world and beyond (faith / beliefs)

We do this by developing a deep understanding of the school values of LOVE, COURAGE and TRUST

Which is summarised in our school vision

At Pilgrims’ Cross CE A Primary School we WILL be LOVING, COURAGEOUS and TRUSTWORTHY so we can be TALENTED, ROLE MODELS and make a POSITIVE DIFFERENCE.

Collective Worship is one way we develop children’s spirituality and understanding of the school values and vision.

PRINCIPLES OF COLLECTIVE WORSHIP:

Inclusive, Invitational, Inspirational, Relevant, Distinctly Christian, Peaceful, Driven by Christian Values,

Guide children in their understanding of the Christian Story, seasons, Christian festivals and Anglican traditions,

Enables participants to develop an understanding of Jesus Christ and a Christian understanding of God as the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Offers opportunity for all to reflect, through prayer, silence, personal thought and collective discussion,

Celebrates Bibles texts and themes,

Gives opportunities for children to think deeply about BIG questions,

Develops personal spirituality within the school community

Celebrate the God given gifts and talents of individuals

And finally encourages children to consider how to make an active “positive difference in God’s World.”

“To worship is to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God, to feed the mind with the truth of God, to purge the imagination by the beauty of God, to open the heart to the love of God, to devote the will to the purpose of God.”

William Temple, Archbishop of Canterbury 1942-44
