Sub-intent for PE

At Pilgrims’ Cross Primary School, we are passionate about improving the health and well-being of all our pupils and we believe that our provision for PE is a fundamental platform that works towards achieving this. Our sole aim is to inspire a love of P.E. and sport in order to raise the level of physical activity our pupils engage in outside of school. To do this, we are striving to implement a high quality PE curriculum that inspires all children to succeed, excel and become resilient learners. Our teachers understand that we are positive, physical role models and through the PE experiences we provide, we hope that our pupils develop the skills and attitudes needed to have a positive lifelong association with physical activity and healthy living. We also recognise that PE and school sport make an extensive contribution towards aspects of pupils’ social, moral, spiritual and cultural development. Because of this, we are determined to encourage inter school sport experiences, as well as enabling all children to participate in intra-house competitions, which can build character and embed key values such as teamwork, fairness and respect for themselves and others.

Below are two documents that detail the curriculum for PE  across the school:

  • The first document is the Science learning in EYFS - under construction!

  • The second document are key objectives (FULL PE Curriculum) which the Subject Lead Guide has identified that they feel in their professional opinion the children must understand to develop a good understanding of their subject.

(N.B. The order of the key objectives are in constant review to ensure secure and relevant learning links and ensure progressive understanding) - under construction
