DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

Sub-Intent for Design and Technology 

 

It is the intent of Pilgrims’ Cross Primary School for Design Technology to be taught in all year groups through at least one cross curricular ‘Learning Adventure’ per term, which includes one relating to food. Design and Technology encourages children to become independent, creative problem solvers and thinkers as individuals and part of a team. It enables them to identify needs and opportunities and to respond to them by developing a range of ideas and by making products and systems. Through the study of Design and Technology, they combine practical skills with an understanding of aesthetic, social and environmental issues, as well as functions and industry. This allows them to reflect on and evaluate past and present technology, it's uses and impacts. 

Below are three documents that detail the curriculum for DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY across the school:

 

  • The first document is the Design and Technology learning in EYFS - under construction!

 

  • The second document is the full Design and Technoilogy curriculum set out in year groups. 

 

  • The third document are key objectives which the Subject Lead Guide has identified that they feel in their professional opinion the children must understand to develop a good understanding of their subject.

(N.B. The order of the key objectives are in constant review to ensure secure and relevant learning links and ensure progressive understanding)
