Computing

Sub- Intent for Computing

Why do we teach computing?

At Pilgrims’ cross we teach computing from Foundation up to Year 6 in order that each child leaves us in Year 6 with a strong understanding of the way computers work, enabling them to become computer literate individuals.

We believe that computing is becoming an ever increasingly important skill in our world. Understanding and respecting computers will allow Pilgrims’ Cross children to use computational thinking which will help them make a positive difference in God’s world.

We also believe that the children should not only have set aside computing lessons but computing should also be embedded across the curriculum subjects. This allows the children more chance to practise, and become confident in using information technology.

Below are three documents that detail the curriculum for COMPUTING across the school:

  • The first document is the Computing learning in EYFS - under construction!

  • The second document is the full Computing curriculum set out in year groups.

  • The third document are key objectives which the Subject Lead Guide has identified that they feel in their professional opinion the children must understand to develop a good understanding of their subject.

(N.B. The order of the key objectives are in constant review to ensure secure and relevant learning links and ensure progressive understanding)
