Sub-intent for Art
At Pilgrims’ Cross Primary School, we value Art and Design as an important part of the children’s entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum linked to the individual year groups’ Learning Adventures. Art is a foundation subject of the National Curriculum and an important part of developing our children’s ability to develop their individual creativity, express their ideas and understanding and to work both individually and collaboratively with others. It provides the children with the opportunities to develop and extend skills and express their individual interests, thoughts and ideas. Our aim is to ensure that children are confident approaching artwork, feel a strong sense of achievement and value the impact of art within their own lives.
Below are three documents that detail the curriculum for ART across the school:
- The first document is the Art learning in EYFS
- The second document is the full Art curriculum set out in year groups.
- The third document are key objectives which the Subject Lead Guide has identified that they feel in their professional opinion the children must understand to develop a good understanding of their subject - this is also under construction at this time
(N.B. The order of the key objectives are in constant review to ensure secure and relevant learning links and ensure progressive understanding)
