How can I get involved in school life?

Collective Worship

Parents are welcome to attend ‘Wow Worship’ – Welcome to Worship on Fridays, at 8:40am each week, during which children’s Vision Points are recognised. This includes achievements from outside of school, including swimming certificates etc.

Reading School

We believe that reading is a key tool for accessing all other areas of learning and therefore place great importance upon children learning to read. We intrinsically value the relationship that we develop with parents in supporting this process.

Therefore, once a week, parents are provided with an opportunity to come into school to undertake reading activities in the classroom with their child.

These activities could include: Participating in a phonics session, listening to their child read, reading to their child, visiting the Discovery Clearing, using Bug Club, class focus author activities and much more!

These opportunities are held on the following days and times. Please speak to your child's class teacher for further information:

Times and days to be confirmed

Do you have a skill, interest or ability that you would like to share?

Local history, another language, a passion for art or something else entirely!

If so, we'd love to hear from you! We always welcome support in school.

An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check will be required but the school can initiate this at no cost to the school or applicant, for volunteers.

Please contact Mrs Borley in the school office to provide your details and to ask about the DBS Check.

Friends of Pilgrims'

We have recently established a 'Friends of Pilgrims'' group, in order to provide valuable and active support to the school and local community. This group will contribute in time and practical work, to help raise funds to enhance provision for the children and the wider community. In addition to providing a social platform to meet one another in an informal setting through activities and events.

The group may also be consulted on changes to school policies and other matters where parental and community involvement and ideas are valued.

All parents are automatically members of the Friends Group when their child starts at the school and members of the Picket Twenty community, are also welcome to join.

Please see the 'Friends of Pilgrims'' page for more information.
